Towson, MD– Pessin Katz Law (“PK Law”) is pleased to announce that Member James Benjamin has been elected to the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law’s Board of Visitors. The 41 member Board of Visitors are distinguished alumni and friends who advise the Dean on topics ranging from proposals for new academic programs to the hiring of senior administrators to state and local political issues affecting the law school. Members of the Board also seek to advise the Maryland General Assembly, the Board of Regents, the University System of Maryland Chancellor and the University of Maryland Baltimore President on matters affecting the Law School.

Mr. Benjamin is a Member at PK Law and is part of the Firm’s General Litigation and Medical Malpractice Defense Groups. He has substantial bench and jury trial experience representing insurers and business entities in personal injury and premises liability matters. He represents property owners in Baltimore City in complex lead paint and toxic tort litigation at both the trial and appellate levels. He also has significant experience representing and advising minority-owned and women-owned businesses (MBEs and WBEs) on certification and procurement matters as well as structuring and creating joint ventures and teaming arrangements. 

Mr. Benjamin is very active in the community.  In addition to his Board of Visitors position he is currently a Member of the Maryland State Ethics Commission, the Baltimore County Charter Review Commission and a Board Member of Judge Alexander Williams Center for Education, Justice and Ethics and the Furman L. Templeton Preparatory Academy.  He also Co-Chaired Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake’s Working Group on the Use and Implementation of Body-Worn Cameras.
