Pessin Katz Law (PK Law) is pleased to announce that Member Gregory K. Kirby has been voted to serve on the Board of Directors for the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service (“MVLS”).
MVLS is a private, non-profit legal services provider established in 1981 to help meet the need for civil legal services in Maryland. Their mission is to provide quality civil legal assistance to Marylanders with limited income at low or no cost. Their pro bono program serves Marylanders in Central Maryland, the Lower Shore, and Western Maryland. The program has focused on pro bono assistance—matching one client and one volunteer attorney—and it remains a cornerstone of MVLS’s work today. Their panel of more than 1,600 volunteers help clients with custody disputes, tax issues, child and adult guardianship, landlord/tenant conflicts, foreclosure defense, criminal record expungements, consumer cases, and a broad range of other civil legal problems.
Mr. Kirby is a Member at PK Law and is part of the firm’s Medical Malpractice Defense Group. He concentrates his practice in all aspects of civil litigation with a focus on medical malpractice, personal injury, insurance defense, and product and pharmaceutical liability. He also has experience with environmental torts, class and mass actions, and cyber security and privacy. Mr. Kirby has extensive civil trial experience and actively litigates cases in all of the Maryland state courts and various federal courts as well as in the District of Columbia, and with the Board of Physicians and the Board of Nursing.
Mr. Kirby is well known throughout Maryland for his involvement in the community and with the Maryland State Bar Association, as well as the Bar Association of Baltimore City, of which he is a past President. He also serves as an Officer on the Board of Directors of the St. Agnes Hospital Foundation, and the Maryland Chapter of the Society for Health Care Risk Management.
