PK Law Medical Malpractice Attorney James Darrah recently obtained certification as an International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) U.S. Information Privacy Professional.  This certification is widely recognized in the cybersecurity legal field as the certification that shows the world that one has gained a foundational understanding of broad global concepts of privacy and data protection law and practice, including: jurisdictional laws, regulations and enforcement models; essential privacy concepts and principals; legal requirements for handling and transferring data as well as an understanding of how to apply this knowledge to assist clients.

Mr. Darrah concentrates his practice on representing healthcare professionals and institutions and plans to incorporate his privacy and cybersecurity knowledge, including HIPAA related regulations, into his practice.

Mr. Darrah also has considerable experience representing clients in tort-related litigation in Maryland and the District of Columbia.

Prior to joining PK Law, he practiced at a civil litigation firm where he handled medical malpractice, personal injury, construction and general insurance defense matters. While in law school, Jay clerked for a Fortune 500 insurance company and served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Daniel M. Long in the Circuit Court for Somerset County.

Mr. Darrah received his undergraduate degree from Villanova University and his JD from the University of Baltimore School of Law.
