Halle P. Gray

Ms. Gray is a Member at PK Law and is part of the Firm’s Labor and Employment Group.

She focuses her practice on labor and employment litigation involving such matters as wrongful termination, harassment, discrimination, and retaliation claims brought against employers. Many of these matters are covered under the employers’ employment practices liability insurance (EPLI).  She handles audits and claims related to an employers’ worker misclassification, violations of child labor laws, and failure to pay minimum wage and sick and safe leave. She regularly drafts and updates employee handbooks and spearheads the Firm’s 1099 to W-2 Reclassification Package. She has participated in numerous presentations on these topics.

She also handles general litigation, insurance defense, premises liability, personal injury, and auto tort defense matters.  Her active trial practice includes all aspects of a civil case litigation in state and federal courts throughout Maryland – preparing pleadings, discovery, and motions, and participation in mediation, court ordered ADR, oral arguments, and jury and bench trials. Ms. Gray has significant responsibility in the management and oversight of the associates in the group.

Prior to joining PK Law, Ms. Gray was an Assistant Public Defender with the Maryland Office of the Public Defender, Eastside District Court where she represented indigent clients in criminal matters.  With a caseload of 20-30 cases per daily docket, Ms. Gray was trial counsel in hundreds of contested cases and gained extensive litigation experience.  Prior to this position she was a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Karen C. Friedman of the Baltimore City Circuit Court.

Ms. Gray is active in the community, previously serving on the PIVOT Board where she served her passion to provide disadvantaged women with workforce development programs and housing to reclaim their lives. Most recently, Ms. Gray was named a participant in the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel (FDCC) Ladder Down Program which is a year-long program dedicated to leadership, empowerment, business development, and mentoring for women. She is also a member of the Defense Research Institute (DRI) where she is on the Planning Committee for the DRI Labor and Employment Conference.

Ms. Gray has been named to the Maryland Super Lawyers Rising Star list for Employment Litigation Defense since 2023 and to Best Lawyers in America Ones to Watch List for Labor and Employment Law, Management and Litigation, and Labor and Employment since 2026.

She recently co-authored, Thomson Reuters’ Practical Law State Q&As for Maryland: Background Check Laws and Drug Testing Laws and the “Independent Contractors” Chapter for the Lexis Nexis 2024 Treatise, Employment Contracts and Agreements: A Guide for Corporate Counsel.
