Susan M. Euteneuer

Susan Euteneuer is a Member in the Firm’s Corporate and Real Estate Group where she focuses her practice on commercial, corporate, and business litigation involving contracts, mergers and acquisitions, torts, insurance coverage, environmental, and employment issues. She has experience representing parties in state and federal courts throughout the state of Maryland (trial, civil proceedings, and appellate level), arbitrations and administrative proceedings, such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE); coordinating all aspects of discovery, including preparing expert witnesses, e-discovery, and evidence preservation; and advising clients regarding regulatory compliance concerns, risk management, insurance, and due diligence.

Ms. Euteneuer also has significant experience in the captive insurance provider and franchising sectors. As General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at a large captive insurance provider, she navigated the complex and evolving state, federal, and international insurance, financial services, and tax laws; managed outside counsel, litigation, and complex insurance claims; and established best practices and maintained proper corporate governance. While in this role, she was also recruited to be a board member of the Tennessee Captive Insurance Association (“Association”).  Ms. Euteneuer has maintained her board position and is actively engaged in the Association, albeit now in the role of an attorney in private practice.  She is looking forward to introducing and facilitating relationships with business clients that allow them to explore, and if appropriate, take advantage of, opportunities in the captive insurance industry. In addition, she served as sole counsel for a national childcare franchise system where she learned the complexities of the highly regulated franchising industry including leasing, financing, labor and employment, compliance, licensing, taxes, copyright, trademarks, and franchise system offerings.

Ms. Euteneuer began her legal career in 2001 as a Litigation Associate at Pessin Katz Law, P.A.
