Ms. Battaglia is a Member with PK Law and heads the Firm’s Wealth Preservation Group. She has been practicing in the estates and trusts and elder law fields for over twenty five years, first as a paralegal and, upon graduation from law school, as an attorney. In the elder law field, Ms. Battaglia is known for her extensive knowledge of the applicable federal and state laws and experience working with the various elder law agencies and entities. As needed, Ms. Battaglia represents her clients before the local Departments of Human Services throughout the State of Maryland to obtain Medical Assistance (Medicaid).
Ms. Battaglia has a reputation for being a strong advocate for her clients – protecting their assets and ensuring their care. Throughout her career, she has prioritized maintaining good relationships with individuals working in assisted living homes, nursing facilities, and continuing care retirement communities to help her clients find placements and assist with smooth transitions to new living arrangements.
Both in conjunction with and separate from her elder law practice, Ms. Battaglia has extensive experience preparing various estate planning documents, such as wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance health care directives, deeds, and care management agreements for individuals, couples and families. Ms. Battaglia also represents domestic partners in the preparation of their estate planning documents, which often requires unique planning to ensure both partners are protected.
