I Think That I Shall Never See
A Poem Lovely As A Tree
As the cherry trees are finally blossoming, our spirits are lifted and we look forward to warmer days and the sunlight of spring and summer. Some of us also have our spirits lifted when we examine well-kept data, and my particular favorite, charts and graphs showing a student’s progress on goals and objectives. Those are truly heart-warming and satisfying, particularly when team members are being accused of not keeping data or not providing educational services that result in meaningful progress. While the poet Joyce Kilmer probably did not have the analogy of goals and objectives in mind when she wrote “Trees,” those of you who are in the business of keeping and explaining data know the joy of having concrete evidence of your hard work in hand to share at an IEP team meeting.
Enjoy your Spring break! Enjoy the cherry blossoms!
